How To Apply
Part-Time / Short Courses September 2018

With the exception of MCASTeens, all MCAST Part Time Courses are open to candidates who are over 16 years of age.

The application form should be completed by prospective candidates and returned together with full payment to: The Office of Part-Time Courses, MCAST Main Campus, Students' House, Corradino Hill, Paola PLA 9032. Application forms are also available from The Office of Part-Time Courses or via e-mail at

Applicats are requested to bring their ID card when applying in person. Applications without full payment shall be considered incomplete and will not be processed.


Applications will be received at the Office of Part-Time Courses, MCAST Main Campus, Students' House, Corradino Hill, Paola as follows:

  • From Monday 20th August to Friday 31st August from 09.00 hrs and 12.30
  • From Monday 3rd September to Friday 7th September from 09.00 hrs and 12.30, between 13.30 and 16.00 and between 16.30 and 19.00.
Online Application

Prospective candidates may also apply online on between Monday 20th August  2018 until further notice. Please note that the course dates scheduled online are only indicative and the exact starting date of each course will be communicated to applicants by email from the Office of Part-Time Courses.

Enrolment Conditions
  • The College reserves the right not to run a course if there are insufficient applications or for any other reason deemed important by the College, in which case the College will inform the applicant that their application and payment will be transferred to the next launch date for the same course.
  • The dates and times of courses shown on the Prospectus are subject to change by the Administration according to operational requirements. No requests for refunds will be entertained because of such change.
  • Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • No applications will be accepted without full payment.
  • Cheques are to be made payable to ‘MCAST Gateway to Industry Ltd’.
  • Kindly read the CHECKOUT conditions carefully before proceeding to submit an online application.
  • Applicants are encouraged to view the course outline available on the website or contact the Part-Time Courses Office prior to applying for a course. The course outline also includes the specific course recommended pre-requisites and/or entry requirements.
  • By default all listed courses are delivered in Maltese. Non Maltese speaking applicants are to contact the Office of Part-Time Courses before applying in order to verify whether the course can be delivered in English.
  • Senior citizens (aged 60+, holders of a disability card and MCAST full-time students are eligible to a 50% discount on part-time courses that are free from materials and consumables. Otherwise a discount of 25% would be applicable. Candidates are to present their ID card or their Student Card to be eligible for the discount.
  • No discounts apply for courses and programmes, registrations and examinations fees run for Foreign Awarding Bodies.
  • No discounts apply for courses at MQF Level 5, Level 6 and Level 7.
  • No discounts apply for courses with fees under €50.
Bundle Offers

All courses forming part of a Bundle Offer are available, and can also be booked as Stand-Alone at the stand-alone prices indicated.  However, when booked together as a Bundle, an overall discounted price as indicated applies.

Clients will receive information via email whether courses will be delivered as Stand-Alone or as part of a Bundle at the point of course-commencement and schedule notification.  The Commencement of courses delivered as a Bundle will follow each other on completion of the lessons of the previous course delivered.

Get Qualified Scheme

A number of MQF Level 5, Level 6 and Level 7 courses listed in this prospectus are entitled to a Tax Rebate under the Get Qualified Scheme. Please contact the Office of Part-Time Courses for details of visit

Mature Student

Students who satisfy the following conditions may apply for consideration to join MCAST programmes as mature students:

  • Be in possession of the School Leaving Certificate
  • Have, by the end nof the current calender year:
    • Attained the age of 23 years for entry to programmes at MQC Level 5, Level 6 and Level 7 on the National Qualifications Framework
    • Attained the age of 21 years for entry to programmes at MQC Level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework
    • Attained the age of 19 years for entry to programmes at MQC Level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework
  • Demonstrate that they stand to benefit and show that they are able to follow the programme through an interview held for the purpose.  The Interview Board may require candidates to undertake additional studies as part of their acceptance.  The Board may recommend and alternative programme where it considers it appropriate.  The Board reserves the right to evaluate the prospective candidate's competences through an assessment.  Students are advices to contact the Office of Part-Time Courses to clarify any queries
Cancellation Policy
  • The course fee is non refundable for candidates who choose to withdraw their application. However it may be transferred to another course of the applicant’s preference. This has to be done prior to the closing date of the application period. In exceptional cirumstances an administration fee of €25 may be applied on cancellation.
  • A full refund of the fee will be effected by MCAST in the event that the College is unable to provide the course.
Free use of MCAST Library

All registered part-time students are eligible to make use of MCAST’s six libraries for free throughout the duration of the course. For more information, visit the website:

Programmes and other foreign Awarding Bodies

It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that applications for examinations are duly filled in and submitted at the corresponding Institute. Late applications will be subject to a ‘late application fee’.

Running of Courses

To all eligible applicants:

  • Course Starting Date

All eligible applicants shall receive an email indicating the starting date and venue. Dates scheduled on the MCAST website are only indicative. Candidates are responsibile to provide valid email addresses and to check their email for messages regularly. Once MCAST records that an email notification has been sent to candidate, the responsibility rests on the candidate to note the course starting date and other details.

  • Cancellation of Lectures

Cancellation of lectures will be communicated to students via SMS on the mobile number indicated on the application form.

Course Examinations and Certification

Successful completion of courses certified by MCAST entitles the student to either a ‘Certificate of Attendance’ or a ‘Certificate of Achievement’. Further information on which type of certificate one can achieve can be obtained from the course outline available on

  1. Certificate of Attendance
    • A certificate will be issued if attendance exceeds 80%. of course duration.
  2. Certificate of Achievement

To obtain a Certificate of Achievement, a student must;

  • Attend a minimium of 80% of the course duration
  • Pass successfully the test/assessment.

A student will not be eligible to sit for the final test/assessment if he/she has not attended 80% of the course.  Candidates who wish to receive their certificate by post can do so at a fee of €4 to cover mailing costs.

Full Certification

Courses to which an MCAST Level and number of ECTS/ECVET have been assigned can be used as building blocks leading to a full Certification.

As an example, it may be possible to take separate units at level 4 in engineering totaling up to 30 credits and thus qualify for a Level 4 Certificate in Engineering. The combination of units needs to be approved by MCAST.

Units can also be taken separately and in such cases a single unit certificate will be issued after successful completion of the unit.
