Woodwork - Introduction

This course offers students an introduction to basic woodwork skills.  This course is designed for complete beginners and for those who have some previous experience.   By the end of the course students will be able to have hands on experience  in making things with wood.

This is a 32 hour course.  Lessons are held as indicated on the prospectus and website. 

Students will also learn about;

  • Basic hand tools,
  • Power tools and light machines
  • Make various items from wood and associated materials found in the home workshop
  • Tool maintenance,
  • Sharpening,
  • Safety in the workshop
  • Woodwork joints.

There are no entry requirements and no previous experience in the field is required. 

An MCAST Certificate of Attendance in Introduction to Woodwork will be awarded to all students attending more than 80% of lectures.

There are no summative assessments in this course            

There are no extra costs to pay or special materials/equipment to bring.
