Planning and Managing Events

This course will give learners the opportunity to develop knowledge related to the events industry.  It covers the considerable knowledge that falls within the scope of organising and managing events.   Learners have the opportunity to focus on the importance of planning as to ensure the success of an event, understand operational event planning and also giving a thorough snap shot of what is involved in event set-up and breakdown. 

Furthermore, learners will comprehend the skills and competences required by event planners as to manage the running of an event in a smooth and responsible way.  This course will enable learners to understand and develop leadership skills required when leading a team before, during and after an event. 

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Explain the role of an event organizer when planning an event
  2. Recognise the arrangements to be made when planning and organizing an event
  3. Identify the different types of venues and resources needed for different events
  4. Plan and organize an event

Entry Requirements

  • A pass in any 2 O-levels
  • School leaving Certificate

NOTE: 1 ECVET is equivalent to 25hrs of total student workload. The includes tuition, assessment and self-study hours.

Course participants may be awarded either an MCAST Certificate of Attendance or an MCAST Certificate of Achievement.

MCAST Certificate of Attendance

  • An MCAST Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to those candidates who attend at least 80% of the lessons.

MCAST Certificate of Achievement

  • An MCAST Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to those candidates who satisfy the 80% attendance criteria AND ALSO choose to sit and pass the course assessment/s.
  • Students who opt not to sit for the assessment/s or fail (the assessment/s) will however be awarded an MCAST Certificate of Attendance provided that they fulfill the minimum attendance criteria as stated above.

If the student intends to obtain a Certificate of Achievement, she/he is required to sit for an assessment/s. Assessment/s may take various forms such as a home assignment, class assignment, practical test and time constrained test. However, the assessment/s is not compulsory and an applicant may choose not to sit for it.

There are no additional costs or special materials/equipment to bring.
